Apply for a resident parking permit
Use this service to get a permit to park in your street's zone. It costs £36 a year for your first car.
You can apply if:
- you live at an address inside a permit zone
- the car is registered to you at that address, or you can show a lease or company car letter
What you'll need
- Your car's registration number, like AV12 BCD
- A photo of your V5C logbook, or your lease or company car letter
- A debit or credit card
It takes about 10 minutes.
You can save your answers and come back within 7 days.
Important: Your permit is now digital
There is nothing to put in your windscreen. Wardens check your registration number against our list.
After you apply

We check your documents
Within 2 working days. If something is missing, we email you to ask for it.

Your permit starts
We email you a confirmation with the start date. You can park in your zone from then.

We remind you to renew
4 weeks before it ends, by email or text.

You can get a resident parking permit if all of these are true:
- you live at an address inside a permit zone
- the car is registered to you at that address, or you can show a lease or company car letter
- the car is under 3.5 tonnes

You can't get a resident permit
Permits are only for streets in a zone. You can park free on streets without zone signs, or buy a season ticket for a council car park.
Update your logbook first
The car must be registered at your address. Update your V5C with the vehicle licensing agency, then apply. It usually takes 2 weeks.
You need a business permit
Vehicles over 3.5 tonnes can't have a resident permit. Ask us about a business permit.
